Since moving to Virginia Beach to be near family several years ago, Ryan E. Thum has practiced exclusively in family law, offering extensive experience in litigation, divorce and custody issues, particularly in his role as a court-appointed guardian ad litem. Mr. Thum has the utmost respect for his field of work and enjoys partnering with different professions of people who often weigh in on cases. Because of this, he considers himself a true “counselor-at-law.”

Mr. Thum earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Appalachia State University. He received his juris doctorate from Campbell University School of Law, where he served as a Constitutional Law tutor and was a member of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Team and the Final Four of the Intramural Moot Court competition. He has been admitted into both the Virginia and North Carolina bars.

Mr. Thum is also Of Counsel with Brian A. Thomasson, P.L.C.  This allows Mr. Thum and Mr. Thomasson to work as a team to bring more insight and decades of experience to assist their clients.
